Audiobook Production Workflow

The audiobook production workflow is comprised of five general activities as noted below. Your workflow may differ somewhat based on your needs and preferences. For example, you may choose to outsource one or more steps to a 3rd-party. 
    1. Recording: Prepare the manuscript and narrate the audiobook.
    2. Proofing: Review each file to ensure it is accurate to text, character voices are consistent, and it is free of extraneous noises, distracting breaths, and flow of narration. In each case, noting where it is not.
    3. Pick-ups: Re-record any passages as indicated by proofing.
    4. Editing: Incorporate changes indicated by proofing. Remove unwanted sounds and ensure proper pacing.
    5. Mastering: Review edited files to ensure they meet/exceed industry standards and requirements (e.g. ACX submission requirements)
    6. Final: Render the mastered audio as MP3 files ready for ACX submission.

 Folder Structure 

For each book you record, I encourage you to create a folder structure based on the audiobook production workflow. You may choose to exclude folders that do not apply to your personal workflow.
