Studio One: New Color, Please

Studio One: New Color, Please

Introduction

If you intend to stare at Studio One for hours at a time, you may want to personalize it a bit. Studio One gives you some flexibility in themes that can be applied to add some character to the user interface. In this article, I will address three of these.

Change the default Event color for a track.

Just to the left of the track header, is a thin bar. If you press that bar it will open up a color menu that will allow you to define the default color of events that are created on that particular track. Doing this will update the colors of all of the events on that track. Note that this will only apply to your current session. If you would like this change to carry over to subsequent sessions, you should update your template after making this change.

Change the color of a specific Event.

There are times that you may want to call out a specific Event so that it is easy to visually identify. You can change the color of an individual Event by right-clicking the Event, and clicking the bar just to the left of the title of the Event to display the color selector.

Change the overall theme.

If you really want to go to town and overhaul the appearance of your instance of Studio One, you can open the Options menu (Ctrl/Cmd + ,) and access the Appearance tab under General. You can create a custom preset for yourself by tweaking the various or you can load in existing preset by clicking Load Preset. Note that the preset you select will apply to all Studio One sessions.
